see all reviewsI’ve heard a lot about Barry’s, and I’ve gotten mixed reviews. The instructor was great—she had an amazing voice, strong and powerful, and gave excellent instructions. However, I found the space to be very small. As a bigger guy, I didn’t have much elbow room. I think the size works better for an average-sized person, but for me, it felt a bit cramped. Overall, I’d rate my experience a 6 out of 10, but that has nothing to do with the instructor she was excellent. My rating is more about the structure of the class, which follows Barry’s model. I’m not surprised by my experience because I’ve heard both great and not-so-great things about Barry’s. It seems like one of those workouts that you either love or don’t. I attended the class because I’m interested in opening my own fitness establishment and wanted to see what people were talking about.

Getting to see your output in real time on the bike and having instructors call out specific resistance numbers would make this class soooo much better.

If you go a bit early she can walk you through the structure before you start and she also shares alternatives for each exercise. The front desk staff are also very friendly. For this class you’re able to go at your pace within the time allotted for each exercise which makes it great for beginners as you have time to get the hang of it. I will definitely go back.

The instructor, Jose, was incredibly kind and supportive. He guided me throughout the entire class, giving me the attention and motivation I needed. The class was small, the space was clean, and the environment made it easy to stay focused and work closely with the instructor. If you’re curious about weightlifting or just want to try something new, I highly recommend this class!

The coaches help with form which is nice, there are 3 sets of 45 sec blocks with 15 sec breaks after which you move onto the next set of exercise. I can see this being addictive but you definitely need to build upto that level. I was exhausted by the end of it, overall a good challenging workout. Might try a few more classes and see how I feel about this being the studio for me.

The class style was odd, there were only 3 of us plus the instructor, but we watched the exercises on the screen and there was very little other instruction given. I also felt like the class breakdown (1 minute per exercise to warm up, then circuits with 4 minutes of work/1 minute to rest and transition, like 15 seconds per cooldown exercise) made it feel impersonal and hard to keep up. Just not my vibe.
